Tourism has once again arrived in Salzburgerland in the second CORONA summer! Following the CORONA restrictions in the Mediterranean regions, hoteliers in Salzburg have received booking inquiries at very short notice, especially from German guests, and are satisfied with the occupancy rate.
All Salzburg districts recorded an increase in overnight stays between May and July 2021 compared to the same period last year. This was strongest in the city of Salzburg at 27.4%, followed by Pongau (+21.6%), the direct catchment area of the Outlet Center Eben im Pongau, which can look back on a very successful summer season.
Almost half of July's guests from Germany
Despite coronavirus, Salzburg is a popular destination for people from all over the world. In July 2021, Germany's neighbors still accounted for the largest share by far at 46 percent. Domestic holidaymakers follow directly behind with 29 percent. 22% come from other European countries and at least 3% from the rest of the world - that is at least a threefold increase compared to July 2020.
In the 2021 summer season, +30% more sales at Outlet Center Eben at the previous year's already high level
The Outlet Center Eben continues to post impressive sales figures in the second CORONA summer. Thanks to the smart outlet concept with the newly opened MUSTANG stores and the traditional costume manufacturer SPIETH&WENSKY, the outlet center has long been a tourist magnet and shopping hot spot away from the city centers and their large shopping centers.
Bargain hunters in particular appreciate vacation shopping in outlets. Full parking lots and queues at the checkout have long since become routine on rainy shopping days. Now that the mask requirement has been lifted, people are slowly returning to the former comforts of an unrestricted shopping experience.
Thanks to the high purchasing power and customer demand for even more brands, the location in the heart of Salzburger Land offers great potential for brands from the upmarket leisure and sports segment. An expansion of the center has already been initiated.
Governor Haslauer: Preparations for the winter season

Winter tourism has always been a major "traffic driver" and the Outlet Center is a popular shopping destination for numerous ski vacationers. The parking spaces and the alternative parking spaces at the center are fully utilized during the peaks on bad weather days in winter.
Outlet Center Eben continues to grow
The Outlet Center Eben secured the last possible expansion areas in the state of Salzburg some time ago. "We are making full use of the possibilities offered by the regional spatial planning of the federal state of Salzburg to bring further attractive brands to the location. The significant increase in visitor and sales figures speaks for the great interest shown by customers and the potential for expansion. We are striving to design the entire area in such a way that we can guarantee optimal parking and shopping space utilization for our customers," says Michael Lungkofler, shareholder and managing director of the center management.
Space for pop-up stores on request
Due to the economic uncertainty, individual brands are requesting short-term rather than longer-term leased space. In the Outlet Center Eben, space is therefore also made available exclusively for temporary use. Interested brand manufacturers who are looking for space for short-term use for test purposes or with the aim of selling off stock will find ideal sales conditions, especially during the main tourist winter or summer season. The Outlet Center Eben i.P. is located in the heart of Pongau, in Eben im Pongau, approx. 45 minutes' drive south of the Mozart city of Salzburg, conveniently located directly on the A10 Tauernautobahn. On a total area of approx. 4,500 square meters, over 30 national and international sports and lifestyle brands are currently presented in 7 stores in their own stores or in so-called multi-brand stores.
